I hear Zack is coming back to race on a team. Will Zack and his team win? Will this year's winning team make 25 laps?

Who's doing solo this year? I'm in again, because I'm stupid like that!

"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true. "

I am going to be documenting the event this year. Don't be camera shy, this should be fun! As documentarian, I am supposed to be neutral, but how can you not root for Mr. Rome? We were supposed to shoot some prelims this weekend but the old man kept me riding the entire time, as long as my wife allowed me to stay.

We need some challengers in solo. It's time for some young blood to step up. Who's about doing 19 all by themselves?

Thanks Lynn. Check's in the mail for those public comments.

You bring up a good point, however. I think age is a huge advantage in endurance mountain bike racing. When I was younger, 100 plus miles of singletrack without stopping would have crushed my spirit. At your next race, fear these three: locals, single speeders, and OLD GUYS (usually with beer bellies).

I hope to be able to do this race. I don't think I'm quite trained enough for solo, but I haven't found a team. If anyone is in the team forming process let me know. I have ridden the course but we stopped a lot and doubled back to rerun some of the better curves and downhills, so I have no idea of my race pace or cruise pace for the course.
What will the course be and which direction? I assume the red circuit. Since blue is grown up and part of yellow (Tally) is closed and no shape for racing. I plan to go down one more weekend and run the course again.

Start at the trailhead and ride to the gravel road intersection of Rd 124 and Rd 187. Continue straight along Rd 187 to Checkpoint 1. At CP1, turn into the singletrack and continue for ~.5 miles till it hits Rd 124. Take a left on Rd 124 and go over the bridge to Checkpoint 2. At CP2, turn right into the singletrack. Continue on this singletrack for ~9 miles, passing through Checkpoint 3 at the Oil Well. Continue till the single track empties out onto Clear Springs Rd and ride .25miles to the trailhead to complete the lap.

Who's dressing up? I will be if I can come up with some form of costume that won't hinder my riding. I'm sure I'll ditch it by nightfall however. I might just be "the streaker". Imagine the weight savings....

Caveman biker...

Notice:
little 'bones' on front of shirt
animal skin camelbak
black fur costume
fur bike
fur seat

He also has a huge fur covered hat (think British mounty-type thing) with glow in the dark horns as well as a club slung over his back.

Used to race with him. Rides solo, single speed, and usually finishes in the top 15 out of a total field of 600-800.
